The Best Winter Sleeping Bags [Aug 23, 2011]

There’s nothing worse than camping out in the winter in a sleeping bag that isn’t able to keep you warm. When it comes to winter camping, sleeping bags should actually be rated for lower temperatures than you’ll be camping in. For instance, if you’re going to be sleeping out in temperatures of -15 Fahrenheit, it’s a good idea to use a sleeping bag that’s rated for -30 Fahrenheit temperature.

Sleeping bags are made of several different types of insulation, such as Primaloft, down, Polarguard, Microloft, and Qualofill. The best types of bags are those that are mummy-style and come with a hood. The bag should also come with a draft tube alongside the zipper as well as a draft collar placed at the neck.

The sleeping bag should conform well to your body. If it’s a bit too big, there will be spaces where convection currents can get into and these will make you cold. If the bag’s too big, you’ll likely have to wear some extra layers of clothing to help fill in the empty spaces....

How To Choose Kids Beach Chairs? [Aug 02, 2011]

There’s nothing like a good day on the beach. Hearing soft ripples licking the shore and the laughter of children can give someone a great feeling of contentment. De-stressing under the sun and hearing your kids play, in the distance, is like music to most people’s ears. But for you to be able to attain this, you have to make sure that you come well equipped for your beach trip. Bring everything you’re going to need from clothes to gadgets to protective gear and emergency kits, just to make sure that you are well prepared. Kids beach chairs are beach items that must not be forgotten so that the kids, just like you, are given much needed comfort and convenience when at the beach. If your children don’t have kids beach chairs, it’s high time that you get them some since these chairs are something they will greatly appreciate.

There is a wide array of kids beach chairs for you to choose from, either online or in local stores. Being able to find one a good one for your child will entail a little more effort. You want to make sure that your child gets nothing but the best, there are some features you might want to consider for you to get a beach chair that’s worth your money. Below are some important points to take into consideration when looking for a beach chair for your kid.

•The first and probably the most important is durability. Don’t get fooled by the enticing pictures you see on the internet, some of these products might not even last your beach trip. So be wary when choosing products that are extremely affordable, these are usually the first to break down. Putting your money on branded products are most of the time a safer bet.
•Your child’s comfort is also an important aspect to bear in mind. Although this is the last thing most children will consider, you want to make sure that your child is kept comfortable in his/her designated beach chair.
•Another feature to consider is how portable the item is. It’s weight should be just enough for your child to handle the item on his own. Make sure the kids beach chairs are light enough by looking at the product details....

Aluminum Beach Chairs [Jul 19, 2011]

Aluminum beach chairs are almost part and parcel of any beach or pool outing. Very often, these are used to lounge near the water’s edge or as a means to comfortably soak in the sun without the need to deal with the sand underfoot. These days though, you will often find such chairs in cookouts, in bonfire gatherings, in concerts and basically just about any outdoor setting where conventional seats are hard to come by. In fact, having easy to use aluminum beach chairs on standby is now becoming a necessity rather than a fashion trend. Some advantages to having these chairs include: convenience, portability and comfort.

Convenience means that the chairs can be set up almost anywhere, whether on sandy beaches or pebbly camps. With some models, you only ever have to pull two sides of the aluminum sidings apart, and the chair is ready to use....

Backpack [Jul 19, 2011]

A backpack (also called rucksack, knapsack, packsack, pack) is, in its simplest form, a cloth sack carried on one’s back and secured with two straps that go over the shoulders, but there can be exceptions. Lightweight types of backpacks are sometimes worn on only one shoulder strap.

Backpacks are often preferred to handbags for carrying heavy loads or carrying any sort of equipment, because of the limited capacity to carry heavy weights for long periods of time in the hands. Large backpacks, used to carry loads over 10 kg (22 lbs), usually offload the largest part (up to about 90%) of their weight onto padded hip belts, leaving the shoulder straps mainly for stabilising the load. This improves the potential to carry heavy loads, as the hips are stronger than the shoulders, and also increases agility and balance, since the load rides nearer the wearer’s own centre of mass.

In ancient times, the backpack was used as a means to carry the hunter’s larger game and other types of prey as a way of easier transport. In the cases of larger hunts, the hunters would dismember their prey and distribute the pieces of the animal around, each one packing the meat into many wrappings and then into bags which they placed on to their backs. The bag itself was made up of different animal hide and skin (depending on what sorts of animals were in the area) and sewn together by the intestines of said animals, which were woven together tightly to make a sturdy thread-like material.

Choose a Sleeping Bag [Jul 19, 2011]

What kind of sleeping bag should you get? That depends on how you will use it. Of course, it also depends on what your budget is. So decide what you can spend, and then consider the following six questions before you go shopping.

1. What is the coldest weather you will be camping in?

If your backpacking is limited to the summer months, you can probably get away with any sleeping bag rated down to 40 degrees Fahrenheit (4 degrees Celsius). Otherwise, consider your future plans and get a bag that will work at the coldest temperatures you expect to encounter. If it is too warm for summer use, you can always open it up like a blanket and lay it loosely over yourself so it won’t hold in so much heat. Another alternative is to buy one bag for winter trips and one for summer....

way for chioosing nice camping tent [Jul 19, 2011]

A guide to buying a tent that is just right for first time campers.

Before you rush out and buy a tent, there are some questions that you should ask yourself about the kind of tent you want to buy and how much you want to spend. It is really easy to get carried away when confronted by lots of different camping tents and suddenly you find yourself much poorer with a top of the range tent, when you only wanted a basic camping tent for a weekend away! Why not read our camping Blog for more information.

Think first about how you will use the tent. If you are a keen camper then it is likely that you will be upgrading and you know exactly what you want. But if you have not been camping for a while then you are less likely to know what you want. Buying tents for camping that are slightly bigger than what you may need is a good idea because it gives you a little bit more storage space and you aren’t quite so close together in the tent....

What is "SWAG"? [Jul 19, 2011]

The swag is an iconic part of Australia’s history. Originally used by the swaggie or swag man from the late eighteen hundreds and so on through the great depression of the nineteen thirty’s, and then after the Second World War as men returned in need of work and purpose.

The Swaggie was a person, usually a man that wandered Australia’s countryside in search of work. Working in rural areas on smaller farms and larger sheep and cattle stations doing any work the farmer or station owner required. This was a time when money was tight so the swaggie would walk to these places in his quest for work; in those times owning a horse was financially out of the question.

This meant he had to travel light; everything the swaggie owned would need to be rolled up in his swag. In those days the swag was a square piece of canvas, which the swaggie would lay out his bedding on to one side of the canvas, which in most cases was just a blanket; he would use his spare clothing for a pillow. Once he was in his bed under his blanket he would throw the other side of the canvas over his body to protect himself from the cold wind, rain and frost....
